The flange mount accessory provides a standard bolt pattern mounting interface for ASG AC-LVDT and LVIT sensors that would otherwise require custom machined mounting brackets in each application. By standardizing the flange geometry and bolt pattern, the accessory allows sensors to be mounted in existing equipment bolt patterns, bolt circle interfaces on actuator housings, and custom fixture plates without requiring the end user to design and fabricate a unique bracket for each installation.
Alignment and Core Rod Concentricity
Proper mounting alignment is critical for AC-LVDT performance. The core rod must travel along the sensor's measurement axis without lateral deflection, which requires that the sensor mounting and the object being measured share a common axis. The flange mount's precision machined bore and shoulder provide a locating surface that positions the sensor accurately relative to the bolt pattern, reducing the alignment iterations needed during installation and improving measurement repeatability by ensuring the core rod does not contact the bore wall during travel.
Material and Environmental Compatibility
Flange mounts are available in aluminum for standard applications and stainless steel for corrosive environments. The stainless version is the appropriate choice for food processing installations, offshore equipment, and any application where the mounting hardware is exposed to the same corrosive conditions as the sensor itself — using a dissimilar metal bracket in a corrosive environment risks galvanic corrosion at the sensor-bracket interface that can make sensor removal and replacement difficult after years of service.
